Odisha Registers 7% Rise in Revenue Collection till August

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has recorded a 7 per cent rise in revenue collection up to August during the 2019-20 fiscal, informed Finance Secretary Ashok Meena here today.

The total revenue collection increased to around Rs 12,315 crore up to August this fiscal compared to Rs 11,758 crore during the same period in the previous fiscal, registering an impressive 7% growth.

Odisha’s non-tax revenue increased by 12 per cent over previous year and the augmentation of revenue from own tax sources increased by 5 per cent, said the official at the secretaries meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy.

The State has recorded 4 per cent decline in total programme expenditure up to August this financial year because the model code of conduct for general elections during initial 2-3 months of the current financial year.

The programme expenditure till August 2018 was around 32 per cent of the budget provision against which the expenditure till August this year was 28 per cent of the budgeted allocation.

Total collection under DMF up to August this year was Rs 8,252 crore against which Rs 8,067 crore has been allocated for 12,664 projects.

Around 71 per cent of the funds was allocated to 9,241 projects under priority activities of DMF like drinking water, education, environmental preservation, pollution control, health care, sanitation, skill development, welfare of women and Children, housing, livelihood creation programmes, and connectivity, the meeting revealed.

The Chief Secretary asked the officials to expedite implementation of the projects and utilization of the budgeted amount in coming months.
