Odisha Vigilance Arrests Tax Collector, Retd Tax Collector for Taking Bribe in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Monday arrested a tax collector and retired tax collector in Bhubaneswar for allegedly taking bribe from a person to reduce the holding tax of his house.

“Hemanta Sahoo, Tax Collector/Ward Officer, BMC Ward 23, Khandagiri, BBSR and his assistant Jogendra Pradhan, Retd Tax Collector, have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while taking bribe of Rs. 15000 from a Complaints in order to reduce the holding tax of his house”, the Vigilance said.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case has been registered. Investigation in the matter is in progress, it added.
