New Delhi: The arrest of Arnab Goswami by the Alibaug police on charges of abetment to suicide of an architect and his mother and the subsequent developments particularly in Maharashtra and the country as a whole clearly indicate that the issue is being unnecessarily given political colors with an intend.
While the Editor-In-Chief of Republic TV is saying that he was assaulted by the police, the doctors’ report shows there were no signs of assault. The subsequent filing of FIR by a policewoman for manhandling public servants against Arnab, his wife Somyabrata Goswami, their son and others present at the house shows that the respected Editor has no respect towards the law enforcement agencies.
As the police anticipated resistance, the incident was video recorded starting from their entry into Arnab’s apartment to being taken into the van. According to the lady inspector Sujata Tanavade, when the policemen stopped Somyabrata from recording video, she assaulted the some of the policemen.
Amidst all this day long rumblings, one family that has been demanding justice for the last two years seems to have got some succor. Anvay Naik’s family has been under tremendous pressure as the case involved a high profile person with deep relations with political fraternity.
Speaking to media, Naik’s family said “We do not want to make the issue political. I have lost two family members due to this issue. We want people to understand how powerful people like Arnab Goswami get away with such things”.
For the last few months Arnab and his channel Republic TV have been vigorously campaigning for arrest of the culprits who are responsible for the abetment to suicide of actor Susant Singh Rajput. But when it comes to Arnab, his channel and he himself did not go by rule books despite having a suicide note left by the architect. The whole episode demonstrates how fair the media is!
