Postal Ballot Voting for Pipli By-Election Begins

Bhubaneswar: The voting through postal ballot for Pipili by-poll in Odisha’s Puri district begun on Thursday.

The senior citizens (above 80 years of age), persons with disability (PwD), and Covid-19 suspect or affected persons will cast their votes through its postal ballot, according to Puri Collector Samarth Verma.

The postal ballot voting process will continue for 5 days.

As many as 8212 absentee voters were identified in the two blocks in Pipili assembly constituency. Among them, 1077 opted for postal ballot and gave their consent in Form 12D. Of them, 712 are from Delang block and 356 are from Pipili block. 138 absentee voters had cast their votes through postal ballot earlier.

The by-election to Pipili assembly constituency will be held on September 30. The counting of votes and announcement of the results will be done on October 3. The election process will be completed on October 5.
