Chandigarh: The Punjab Government today moved a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the state Assembly demanding scrapping of the controversial Act.
The resolution moved by Local Bodies and Parliamentary affairs minister Brahm Mohindra on the last day of the two-day special Assembly session has received the support of the main opposition AAP.
After Kerala, Punjab is the second State to pass a resolution against the CAA.
The resolution stated the amended law on citizenship seeks to negate the very secular fabric on which the Constitution of India is based.
The Shriomani Akali Dal (SAD) opposed the resolution.
