Bhubaneswar: The Puri sea beach in Odisha has received the Blue Flag certification, a recognition given to environment-friendly and clean beaches which are equipped with amenities of international standards for tourists.
The stretch of the beach from Gandhi Ghat to Hotel Mayfair has been identified to be developed as per the Blue Flag standards, as per reports.
The Puri sea beach, one of the major attractions in the pilgrim city, got further boost for its tourism potential with the Blue Flag tag.
A beach needs to qualify with at least 33 pre-requisites to achieve the Blue Flag certificate. This includes the quality of seawater, toilet, changing rooms, first aid centres, solar lighting, parking lots, security for senior citizens, CCTV surveillance and 24×7 security arrangements.
