Puri Municipality Rolls Out Special Vehicles for Door-to-Door Segregated Waste Collection

Puri: In a bid to keep the pilgrim city of Puri clean and green, the Puri Municipality rolled out special vehicles for the door-to-door segregated waste collection from today.

Chairman of the National Commission for Safai Karmachari (NCSK) Manhar Valjibhai Zala flagged off five TATA ACE vehicles from the premises of Niladri Bhakta Nivas here.

NCSK Secretary Narain Dass, Principal Secretary to Chairman Mahendra Prasad, NCSK member Ganga Ram Ghosre, NCSK Consultant Pooran Singh and Puri Municipality Executive Officer Bijaya Kumar Dash were present on the occasion.

Initially, 20 vehicles will move around the city for the collection of waste materials.

As many as 48 such vehicles will be deployed for door-to-door collection of garbage from nearly 48,000 families under the Puri Municipality. One vehicle will be deployed for 1000 families.

Swachha Sathi and Safei Karmachari will motivate people to give their Garbages in the vehicle running in lane near their houses.

The initiative of Puri Municipality has been welcomed by the people across the city.
