Sambalpur: The Puri-Surat Express train derailed near Bhabanipali between Hatibari and Maneswar in Sambalpur district after hitting an elephant at the wee hours today morning. There are no injuries reported.
According to railway sources, the train had departed from Hatbari at about 1 am in the morning and was hit by an elephant which came across the rail line due to which the engine of the train derailed. As a result of the derailment, services on the route had to be stopped. Sambalpur DRM has began investigation into the incident and senior forest officials are present on spot.
According to latest information the train left Hatibari stationat 7.24 am after rerailment of the Engine.
