Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, senior BJD leader from Ganjam district Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik has been appointed as chairman of Odisha Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (OBOCWWB) with Cabinet rank replacing Subash Singh.
The speculation was thick in the air that Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik who had earlier denied a MLA ticket, was in race for RS seat.
In a consolation , he was appointed as chairman of OBCWWB with cabinet rank.
Earlier, BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced candidates for the election to four Rajya Sabha seats in the State.
The candidates are Subash Singh, Munna Khan, Sujeet Kumar and Mamata Mohanta. The BJD has fielded the above candidates due to their loyalty to the party and its president, sources said.
