Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today announced the extension of relaxation of the enforcement of new Motor Vehicle Act by three more months.
Odisha Commerce and Transport Minister Padmanav Behera made the announcement after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed that extension of another three months be given to ensure the motor vehicle users to obtain required documents and ensure full compliance with the provisions of the MV Act.
Behera informed that this extension is being given for the last time and no further extension will be granted.
The Minister further said that there will be strict enforcement against dangerous life threatening actions (both the driver and the road using public) like drunken driving, over speeding, driving against the floe of traffic, using mobile phone while driving, dangerous driving, triple riding on two-wheelers, overloading, jumping red light, wearing of helmet, seat belt etc.
In case any motorist is found in contravention of any of the road safety provisions, the documents also will be checked, he added.
