Koraput: Santwana B Simran, an intermediate student from Koraput has brought laurels to India by becoming the first ever Desia tribal girl to win an international beauty peasant. Simran has won the Miss India International Photogenic Title held at Jakarta.

Defeating 18 other contestants, Simran was able to clinch the title with total devotion and concentration. Coming from a tribal area and waking on the ramp in an international event was like a dream for her.

Santwana B Simran comes from Mathalput village of Semiliguda area from the Koraput district. She started her journey in modeling just a few days back by participating in beauty pageants. The breakthrough came by winning the title of Miss Koraput this year after winning the Kerry’s Mr. & Miss Koraput 2019 contest. Besides modeling she is now being trained in fashion designing.

Inspired by Susmita Sen and Priyanka Chopra, she says that it was not easy for her to reach this height. She overcome the financial constraints when community people helped a lot and the district administration facilitated sponsorship from Nalco. Now she hopes to become Miss Global or Miss Universe someday.
