SCB Expansion: Participatory Mechanism Works Wonder, People Voluntarily Vacates Temple Areas

Cuttack: Even as the displacement is a major hurdle to take off any project in many parts of the country, it seems a no jerk affairs in Odisha.

An example of this is seen in Cuttack where the Odisha Government’s transformation drive at SCB Medical College and Hospital got overwhelming response from the people.

The affected people voluntarily vacated the Trinath temple and Mangala temple near CESU office in Jobra for a nobel cause like for modernization and expansion of the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.

Today morning people were seen taking away the idols of Trinath temple and Mangala temple near CESU office in Jobra voluntarily to some other place vacating the required land for SCB College and Hospital’s expansion drive.

It may be noted here that the recent announcement of special rehabilitation package by Naveen Patnaik has evoked a massive response and affected people are coming forward to support the SCB college transformation.

Leading from the front, the 5T Secretary VK Pandian is personally monitoring the ongoing transformation drive at the SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Odisha CM had recently announced modernization and revamping of the hospital converting it into a state of the art 3000 bed AIIMS Plus hospital at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore.

As per the package the government would compensate the people, business establishments, religious institutions, traders and other organizations as per the Right to Fair compensation and transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

The state government will acquire private land and houses through direct payment and relocate the unauthorized houses and shops for the expansion of the hospital.
As per the package, the state government will provide Rs 1 lakh assistance to each family for transportation and other contingency arrangements.

It is yet another bright example of Naveen acting on the will of the people.
