SJTA to Approach RBI for Release of Puri Srimandir Funds from Yes Bank

Puri: With Yes Bank placed under moratorium, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to approach the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the release of funds stuck in the crisis-ridden private sector lender.

The SJTA chief administrator Krishan Kumar said that the temple administration will write to the RBI Governor seeking permission to withdraw Puri temple funds of Rs 545 crore from Yes Bank.

Odisha Finance Secretary Ashok Meena also said that the State Government will request the RBI to allow the government to withdraw the funds after maturity.

The Rs 50,000 cash withdrawal limit is only applicable to retail depositors, he said while adding that discussion is underway over the withdrawal provision of institutional depositors.
