Bhubaneswar: Strict implementation of the amended Moter Vehicle Act in Odisha in the last quarter of 2019 has helped reduce the number of deaths due to road accidents.

According to data released by the State Transport Authority, accident deaths in the state decline by 17% during 1st September 2019 to December 2019 when compared to the same period of 2018. The number of accident deaths came down from 1856 in Sept-Dec 2018 to 1541 in Sept-Dec 2019, a decreae of 315.
