New Delhi: Bringing laurels to the State, as many as ten Odia eminent personalities from the field of art, education, literature, agriculture and animal husbandry have bag the Parma Award today as the Union Government announced the names of the recipients of Padma awards for the year 2020.
The list contains 141 Padma awardees – seven Padma Vibhushan, 16 Padma Bhushan and 118 Padma Shri Awards.
34 of the awardees are women.
Eminent Odia litterateur, Manoj Das will receive Padma Bhushan, the second-highest civilian award of the country.
The recipients of Padma Shri awardees from Odisha are Dr. Damayanti Beshra – Literature and Education; Utsav Charan Das – Art; Mitrabhanu Gountia – Art; Manmohan Mahapatra – (posthumous) Art; Binapani Mohanty – Literature and Education; Radha Mohan and Sabarmatee – Agriculture; Batakrushna Sahoo – Animal Husbandry; Dr Digambar Behera – Medicine and Dr. Prasanta Kumar Pattanaik for Literature and Education.
These awards are conferred by the President of India at ceremonial functions which are held at Rashtrapati Bhawan in March/ April every year.
