Transforming Puri: Locals and Pilgrims Praise the Initiative As Eviction Continues

Puri: The eviction process that started yesterday around the Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri continued on Wednesday and officials are leaving no stone unturned to complete the process. While all the government structures near the Meghanada Prachira have been removed, some private properties will also be removed.

The shoe sand, information office and Ramadaya Parishad building, Police outpost, CESU office and the PHED offices have been removed. All the activities are going on in the direct supervision of the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police. As the eviction process continues, the law and order situation has been peaceful and all are cooperating.

The administration has made alternate arrangement of a mobile toilet for the pilgrims as the earlier toilet has been removed to clear the area. Likewise, a coir mat has also been put up from the barricade area to the temple for the pilgrims to walk on it. It will help them avoid the scorching sun and soothe walking barefoot. The debris from the removed structures are being disposed off systematically.
