Two Deaths in Two Days: Setback to Nandankanan Zoological Park as Nilgiri Langur Dies

Bhubaneswar: Nilgiri langur, male died today morning at about 6.30 AM. It was received at Nandankanan on 26.9.17 from Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Chennai. It was 17 years old. DOB- 2.3.2002. It was observed suffering from diarrhoea and fever. It was immediately shifted to Isolation ward of zoo hospital for treatment.

It showed improvement on 19.5.2019. The treatment was carried out in consultation with Centre for Wildlife Health. Blood samples were collected time to time and screened.

Health Committee examined the langur on 28.05.2019. As found from its activities, it seems to be due to nerve disorder but the exact cause of death shall be ascertained after Post Mortem today.
