New Delhi: The Unnao rape victim who was admitted in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital day before yesterday after being set ablaze by the perpetrators has died. The 23 year old victim was airlifted in a special air ambulance from Lucknow to New Delhi.
The 23-year-old Unnao rape survivor, who was airlifted to Delhi and admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital after she was set on fire by five persons on December 5, had a massive heart failure at about 11 pm yesterday. Despite best efforts of the doctors, the victim could not be saved. She had 90 percent burns.
The victim was set ablaze near Sindupur village in Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh when she was on her way to a court in Rae Bareli to attend a hearing in the December 2018 rape case.
The victim, who was conscious all the way while being shifted from Lucknow to New Delhi, had given a statement to the police at the Delhi hospital and had identified all the five persons who had poured kerosene on her and set fire.
