Well Marked Low Pressure To Bring Heavy Rains In State

Bhubaneswar: Yesterday’s Low Pressure area has intensified into a Well-Marked Low Pressure area. It is likely to move northwestwards over north Odisha and West Bengal coasts in the next 24 hours. Due to its influence heavy to very heavy rains are likely in many districts of Odisha from Saturday. According to the IMD, “Isolated very heavy rainfall very likely over Odisha on September 30. Squally weather speed of 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is also likely over South and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal, North Bay of Bengal.” It also said that light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thunderstorm and lightning with isolated heavy rainfall may continue till October 3.

The IMD has issued Orange warning valid from 08 30 hrs IST of 30.09.2023 to 08 30 hrs IST of 01.10.2023) for Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) which is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore.
