Zero Tolerance to Violators: Puri Admin Takes Legal Action against 10 Persons for Defying Curfew

Puri: Legal action has been taken against 10 persons for allegedly violating the curfew imposed in the pilgrim city during Gundicha Yatra.

Based on the principle of zero tolerance, police has started initiating legal action against the persons whose names have emerged as violators of curfew.

Stern legal action will be taken after gathering sufficient evidence and following all due legal procedures. The same action and policy of zero tolerance will continue, the district admin informed.

Notably, the Puri administration had imposed curfew in the pilgrim town from 8 pm on July 11 till 8 pm on July 13 for Lord Jagannath’s annual Ratha Jatra in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

Vehicular movement and opening of chemist shops had been restricted on the Grand Road during the curfew period.
