Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today assigned four IAS officers for the handling of the possible cyclonic situation in four vulnerable coastal districts of the State.
As per notification issued by Office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), the officers have been deputed for the Cyclone AMPHAN management in four possible affected districts — Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.
Commerce & Transport Principal Secretary Madhu Sudan Padhi has been given the charge of Balasore, Chief Electoral Officer Sushil Kumar Lohani has been engaged in Bhadrak.
Industries Principal Secretary Hemant Sharma has been deputed in Kendrapara while Higher Education Commissioner-cum-Secretary Saswat Mishra will monitor Jagatsinghpur district.
These IAS officers will provide guidance and support to the district administrations in management of Cyclone AMPHAN, the notification said.
The Cyclone ‘Amphan’ intensified into a super cyclonic storm on Monday and is likely to move across the northeast Bay of Bengal, and cross the West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts between Digha and the Hatia island on May 20, the IMD stated.
