5T Initiatives Help Odisha Police To Improve Passport Verification Process And Timing

Cuttack: The implementation of the landmark 5T Initiatives and Mo Sarkar program in the Odisha Police Department has helped it improve the Passport Verification process greatly. Till early this year, the passport verification process by Odisha Police was taking about a few weeks time. The average time for passport verification, as per data given by the Passport authorities, was twenty six days in 2018, twenty six days in 2019 and thirty six days in 2020 (due to the impact of Corona). A few years back, the process was even more slow and the average verification time was ninety nine days in 2017, ninety days in 2016 and thirty eight days in 2015.

Early this year, Odisha Police decided to bring substantial improvement in this with the use of 5T Initiatives.

Accordingly, passport verification work was taken up under the 5T initiatives. For smooth and speedier disposal of the verification, Tablets were purchased and given to each police station of the state. The specific App for passport verification was installed and Special Branch started guiding and monitoring passport verification more clearly.

This intervention helped substantial improvement in the time taken for passport verification. In August 2021, the average verification time for passports was brought down to just six days. In the first fortnight of September 2021, the average time of passport verification by Odisha Police came further down to just four days only. 5T Initiatives has helped to make it one of the best and quickest passport verification process in the country today.

Director General of Police Abhay has appreciated the work of Police Station level officers, district SSps and Special Branch in bringing in this transformation.
