Odisha: Five Transgender Persons Appointed as Security Guards at Malkangiri DHH

Malkangiri: In a remarkable step towards empowerment of people from third gender community, the Malkangiri district administration has appointed five transgender persons as security guards at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

The transgender persons – Durga, Sonali, Tushar, Kailash and Hial – will be deployed at female, gynecology and pediatrics wards of the DHH, according to reports.

The newly appointed security guards were trained before and in accordance with the 5T scheme of the government.

The decision was taken by the district administration to empower more third genders by recruiting them under ‘Nirmal’ scheme, sources said.

The newly appointed transgender persons will be given a monthly remuneration of Rs 6000 to Rs 7000 with insurance cover and other facilities.
