India’s COVID-19 Cases Nearing 2 Lakh Mark, Death Toll Rises to 5598

New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 cases are nearing to the two-lakh mark with the addition of 8,171 new cases in 24 hours.

The total number of Coronavirus cases in the country now stand at 1,98,706, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The death toll due to COVID-19 has increased to 5,598 as 204 more deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.

India has now 97,581 active cases, while 95,526 people have recovered.

The country’s recovery rate is 48.07%, the Ministry said in its latest COVID-19 update.

Maharashtra remains as the worst-affected state, with 70,013 cases and 2,362 deaths.

This is followed by Tamil Nadu, which has 23,495 cases and 184 deaths, and Delhi, with 20,834 cases and 523 deaths.
