Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 495 news cases of COVID-19 and five deaths in the last 24 hours.
According to the Health and Family Welfare Department, five COVID-19 patients passed away while under treatment in hospitals taking the State’s coronavirus related death toll to 34.
Three deaths have been reported from Ganjam district and two from Bhubaneswar, the department said.
“Regret to inform that 5 Covid positive patients passed away while under treatment in hospital. 1. Male aged 51 years of Bhubaneswar, also suffering from Pleural Tuberculosis. 2. Male aged 64 years of Bhubaneswar, also suffering from Diabetes. 3. Male aged 50 years of Ganjam, also suffering from Diabetes and Hypertension. 4. Male aged 27 years of Ganjam. 5. Male aged 35 years of Ganjam”, the Health Department tweeted.
With the addition of 495 new cases from 24 districts, total number of COVID-19 in the State reached 8601.
Of the fresh cases, 355 cases have been detected from quarantine centres and 140 are the local contacts, the Information and Public Relations Department said.
