Amid Controversy, OTV Reporter’s Resignation Raises Several Questions

Bhubaneswar: Amid controversy surrounded, senior reporter of Odisha TV (OTV) Ramesh Rath has reportedly resigned from the organization.

The dramatic resignation amid the controversy has raised several questions like – why did he resign at this crucial time, when controversy is still thick in the air, did he resign suo moto or was forced to resign?

Though in his resignation the journalist reportedly cited personal ground for his resignation, the media fraternity is hard to digest the reasons behind his resignation.
Rath was in the news recently, when the Keonjhar police reportedly grilled him in a case related to circulation of morphed obscene video of Keonjhar MP Chandrani Murmu.

Following Rath’s police interrogation, Baijayant Panda had compared Odisha police with that of Pakistan police.

Meanwhile, Chandrani Murmu had also written letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to initiate breach of privilege proceedings against Odisha TV being run by the family of BJP national vice-president Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda.

In the letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Murmu accused OTV reporters of circulating a morphed and obscene video of her with a malicious intention of defaming, harassing and torturing her.

Amid all these controversy Rath’s resignation raises more questions than answer.
