Sambalpur: The Hirakud dam authorities have decided to close five more sluice gates at the reservoir.
The authorities had shut 10 sluice gates of the reservoir in a phased manner on Friday.
At present, the water outflow from the dam is higher than the inflow. Five more gates will be closed to maintain water level at the dam, sources said.
Currently, the floodwater is being discharged through 10 sluice gates. The water level of dam is 620.08 ft against storage capacity of 630 ft by 9.00 am on August 17. The average inflow of water recorded 1,13,362 cusec and 1,74,120 cusec water is being discharged from the reservoir, reports added.
