Bhubaneswar: Flights services will be halted at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) for five months from November 1 due to the mandatory recarpeting work of runway.
The recarpeting work, which is done every 10 years, will be undertaken in phases, said an official.
The BPIA will shut down the runway in two phases for recarpeting work. In the first phase, the runway will remain closed from 10 pm to 5.30 am starting November 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020, informed airport director Suresh Chandra Hota.
The second phase work will continue from April 1 next year to June 30 between 10 am and 6 pm, he said while adding that operation of day time flights will also be discontinued for three months starting from April next year.
