A Banyan Tree That Symbolises the Resilience of Odisha at the Face of Disaster

Bhubaneswar: The Coronavirus pandemic has spared none – rich and poor, privileged and underprivileged. It has brought a sea change in our very fundamental approaches towards the day-to-day life. The war against COVID-19, which started in March, is now prolonged and the mankind as a whole is paying a heavy price for it. The hopes and aspirations of the people are being dashed, so also economy of the country.

On the face of it, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is once again playing the role of a true mass leader to keep the morale of his four and half crore family members high. Ever since the outbreak of coronavirus in the State, Naveen is leading a much-spirited war against it. His determination to save the State from the clutches of natural disaster has been well tested and widely acknowledged both nationally and internationally.

In the current Corona crisis situation, the Chief Minister has once again emerged as the true saviour of the people, not only with his well-articulated disaster mitigation strategies, but also with a humane touch to keep the morale of the people as high as ever.

On Sunday, he came up with an inspiriting message in his personal Twitter handle to showcase the resilience of Odisha at the face of disaster. He drew inspiration from Cyclone Fani, the strongest tropical cyclone to strike Odisha since the 1999 Super Cyclone. He shared pictures of a banyan tree, which was nearly devastated by the tropical cyclone Fani, and how it grew aftermath to stand stronger as before.

The Odia nation has faced many dangers in its long history. With its patience, courage and determination, it has regained its former glory. The banyan tree is the symbol of resilience of Odias. We will fight, we will win again, the CM said.
