All Eyes On Non-NDA But Friendly Parties As Farm Bills Tabled In Rajya Sabha

New Delhi: Amidst the furor over passing of the two crucial Farm Bills in the Lok Sabha on September 7th, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today tabled the Farmers’ and Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 in the Rajya Sabha.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that the Opposition is trying to mislead people by saying that if passed, the Bill will stop the system of Minimum Support Price. He reiterated that the Minimum Support Price is an administrative decision of the Government and will continue. He said the Bills will help farmers to get access to any market they wish to sell their produces. The Bill will help farmers to have a greater say in deciding the prices of their produce. Terming the Bill as revolutionary, the Agriculture Minister said that it will benefit the farmers of the country.

While the Opposition parties are opposing the bills vehemently, all eyes are on the Non-NDA but friendly parties. The main opposition party Congress has said that the Bills are ill conceived and aim at facilitating corporates to monopolise the farm sector.
