Amarnath Yatra Suspended, Pilgrims Asked to Leave Kashmir Amid Terror Threat

New Delhi: The authorities in Jammu and Kashmir suspended the Amarnath pilgrimage and asked pilgrims to either stay away or cut short their trip amid terror threat, according to media reports.

The J&K administration issued an advisory to all Amarnath pilgrims, insisting them to “curtail their stay in the valley immediately”.

The order comes just days after 100 additional companies of paramilitary personnel were deployed in the valley.

The Army on Friday citing intelligence inputs said that Pakistan-based terrorists are planning to target the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.

As per the reports, over 3 lakh pilgrims have completed Amarnath Yatra till 1st August this year, highest in last 4 years.

Notably, a terrorist attack on the Amarnath yatra had killed seven pilgrims and injured 19 in 2017.
