National Conference leader Omar Abdullah was also been arrested, according to media reports.
Mufti was taken into custody and shifted to a guest house in Srinagar from her residence where she was under house arrest.
“Your activities are likely to cause a breach of peace, keeping into consideration your recent activities that may cause a serious law and order situation,” an order by an Executive Magistrate 1st Class said.
Other mainstream leaders from Kashmir were placed under house arrest following the Centre’s decision to repeal special statue to J&K.
Earlier in the day, Mufti has taken to Twitter to protest the abrogation of Article 370 from the State.
She said, “The abrogation of Article 370 hasn’t just made accession null and void but also reduces India to an occupation force in Jammu and Kashmir”.
