Ahmedabad: Ravichandran Ashwin on Thursday scripted history by becoming the fastest Indian bowler to take 400 wickets in test wicket.
The off-spinner achieved the feat as he picked up his 400th wicket in the ongoing Pink-ball Test in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Ashwin is the 4th Indian and the quickest from this country to enter the 400 club after Anil Kumble (619), Kapil Dev (434) and Harbhajan Singh (417).
England’s Jofra Archer was Ashwin’s 400th victim in Test cricket.
The Indian off-spinner is also the second-quickest bowler to complete 400 Test wickets. He has taken 400 wickets in 77 matches. Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan holds the record, having reached the milestone in 72 Tests.
