New Delhi: Reacting to the Supreme Court’s verdict on on the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case, the political and spiritual leaders appealed the people to maintain peace and harmony.
Head priest of the makeshift Ram temple in Ayodhya, Satyendra Das urged the people to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court unanimously.
The Supreme Court verdict should not be seen as anyone’s victory or defeat, it needs to be followed, he said.
Expressing satisfaction over the verdict, Khalid Rasheed, the executive member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) said it is a very important and historic day for India.
Everyone was waiting eagerly for this, and all are looking at the Supreme Court for its orders. The verdict of the apex court will be acceptable to all, he said.
The spiritual head of Ajmer dargah also welcomed the decision of Supreme Court on Ayodhya case and appealed to people to maintain peace and harmony.
“The judiciary is supreme and everyone should respect the decision. It is the time to present a united face before the world because entire world is looking at India today,” Dargah Deewan Zainul Abedin Ali Khan said.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar appealed everyone to accept the verdict.
“We should all in the country accept the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya issue …it’s an unanimous verdict and there should not be any further controversy on it” he said.
“After hearing the arguments of all the parties, the five judges of the SC Bench gave their verdict today unanimously. We welcome the decision of the SC. Today SC gave the decision on a decade-long controversy. The years-old dispute ended today. I appeal to all people to maintain peace and harmony,” Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.
Welcoming the judgment, BJP leader Uma Bharti tweeted: “I welcome this divine judgment of the Honorable Supreme Court. Recalling the honourable Ashok Singhal ji, and paying homage to him. I pay tribute to all those who gave their lives for this work, tribute and greetings to Advani ji, under whose leadership, all of us put our best at stake for this great work.”
On the other hand, the Sunni Waqf Board has expressed their dissatisfaction over the verdict.
Zafaryab Jilani, Sunni Waqf Board Lawyer, said, “We respect the judgement but we are not satisfied, we will decide further course of action.”
