Bhubaneswar: Today an agreement has been signed between Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and Sparrow Software Pvt. Ltd.
By order of Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhary, steps have been taken to do a survey of traders not having trade license in BMC limit. Following the order Deputy Commissioner Revenue, Srimanta Mishra facilitated the process of finalizing an agency through inviting RFP.
The agency will do the survey to find out traders in BMC limit who are running business without obtaining trade license. The survey will take about a month’s time to identify the defaulters. The agency will collect ward wise information with location details and related information for an easy identification. Following the report of the agency BMC will take further actions to regularize the process of enforcing on the mandate.
Although licensing process has become online but there are many defaulters found ignoring the mandate. Hence tracing out the traders require an exercise like doing a rigorous survey.
• Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation under the provision of section 554 and section 617 of Orissa Municipal Corporation Act’2003 issues licenses and permission to carry out business within its jurisdiction. The said license and permission is issued after payment of due License Fee as per Dangerous and Offensive Trade Regulation 2006 of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.
• It is presumed that at present more than 50,000 business units are functioning within Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation limits.
• At present approximately 13,000 business units within Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation have obtained Trade Licenses which is far lower than actual number of business units operating within the jurisdiction of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. This is causing loss in Revenue on the part of public exchequer.
Deputy Commissioner Srimanta Mishra signed the agreement on behalf of BMC where Subrat Kumar Dey represented Sparrow Software Pvt. Ltd.
