Bhubaneswar Set to Become First City in Country to Complete Vaccination Drive

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar is all set to become the first city in the country to complete the vaccination of all eligible beneficiaries.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has administered at least one dose of vaccine to 97.82 pc of eligible beneficiaries in the city in last five months. Of the targeted 8,42,220 beneficiaries of 18 years and above, the BMC administered a single dose to 8,23,879 people while 4,77,756 received both the doses, according to reports.

The civic body has decided to administer 30,000 doses a day except on holidays in order to cover the rest 3,64,464 beneficiaries awaiting their second dose and 18,341 who have not been vaccinated at all.
By the end of July, all eligible beneficiaries are likely to be vaccinated in the city.

As instructed by BMC Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Singh, the civic body has expanded its vaccination drive to cover different segments of the city.
