Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal, which has taken up the issue of price rise of petrol, diesel, gas and other essential commodities, will today organize protest meetings by the Biju Mahila Janata Dal in all the 147 assembly constituencies. Mass protests along with dharnas and rallies will be carried out by the party workers against the Union Government’s faiure to arrest price rise. While diesel prices have crossed Rs 106 in many places, Petrol is priced at more than Rs 110 in the state. Prices of essential commodities along with vegetables and fruits have skyrocketed across the state.
In Bhubaneswar, Biju Mahila Janata Dal will organize protest meetings at the Indian Oil Office and in front of the Sub Collector office. They will also handover a memorandum to the Sub Collector. Yesterday, the BJD has organized mass protests in the state capital against price hike of petroleum products and other essential commodities. The party cadre hit the road at various places and staged demonstrations against the Center. Party leaders including MLAs were seen riding on cycles, trolleys, rickshaws and bullock carts during the protest. The party has alleged that the impact of petrol and diesel price hike is hurting the common man badly.
