Puri: Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal today nominated Rudra Pratap Maharathy as the party candidate for the ensuing by-election to the Pipli Assembly seat in Puri district.
BJD President Naveen Patnaik announced that Rudra Pratap Maharathy would be the Biju Janata Dal candidate for the Pipili by-poll, a statement issued by the party said.
The by-election to the Pipli seat will be held on April 17.
The by-election has been necessitated following death of BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy on October 4. Maharathy had elected from the seat for a record seven times.
