Bol Bam Devotees Throng Lord Shiva Temples on First Monday of Shravan

Bhubaneswar: Thousands of Bol Bam devotees, popularly known as Kanwariyas today thronged Lord Shiva temples across Odisha to offer prayers on the first Monday of holy Shravan.

The devotees were seen standing  in long queues to offer holy water to deity.

Odisha’s famous Shiva shrines including Lingraj temple in Bhubneswar, Puri Loknath temple, and Kapilas in Dhenkanal district saw gathering of massive number of devotees.

The Kanwariyas, attired in saffron-coloured clothes, walked miles  started in groups after picking up water in small pots from various rivers in order to offer it to the deity.
As per beliefs, the offering of special prayer to the Lord during the holy month of Shravan will bring great results for the devotees.

The women devotees were also seen standing in the queue to offer prayer on the occasion.

Adequate security arrangements have made at major Lord Shiva temples for the smooth conduct of the rituals.
