Cinema Halls, Multiplexes in Maharashtra Reopen With 50% Seating Capacity From Nov 5

Mumbai: Going in line with Unlock 6 guidelines of the Union Home Ministry, Maharashtra government on Wednesday allowed cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes to open with 50 per cent of their seating capacity in areas outside containment zones from November 5. However, no eatables will be allowed inside cinema halls, multiplexes and theatres.

The Maharashtra government has also allowed yoga centres that are outside the containment zones to reopen from November 5. Swimming pools too can resume operations for training purposes of state, national and international level sportsperson, the order said.

Other indoor sports facilities such as badminton halls, tennis, squash courts, indoor shooting ranges will also be allowed to operate from Thursday. The order has asked these places to ensure Covid-19 protocols, like physical distancing and sanitisation, are followed.

These places have been shut for over seven months in view of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic which has been particularly severe in Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra saw an increase of 4,909 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. As many as 6,973 people have been cured and discharged, while 120 succumbed to the virus. So far, the state has witnessed 15.31 lakh recoveries.
