Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the month-long Kartika Habisyali Brata Yojana 2019 through video conferencing from Lok Seva Bhawan here today.
Naveen interacted with the devotees, who will perform ‘Habisa’ (a sacred ritual performed by women) in Puri during the month.
Habisyalis expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister.
Special arrangements have been made for 3,000 Habisyalis in Puri this year.
Arrangements have been made for 900 Habisyalis in the premises of Railway Tourism office, 600 in Puri Municipal Kalyan Mandap and 1,500 in Narendrakona centre, sources said.
As many as 2, 577 Habisyalis have been registered for the Habisyali Brata Yojana till date.
The programme was launched in 2016 to provide free accommodation and food to the devotees in Puri, who observe Habisa in Kartika.
