Bhubaneswar: Odisha police, one of the best police forces in the country and admired for its valour and courage, has been in the service of the people always. Its acts of good gesture and impeccable track record in controlling crime and maintaining law and order has always been inspiring. It has always been commended for its selfless service to the people of Odisha. Be it helping people from the fore during natural calamities or maintaining lockdown during pandemic Odisha police has showed that it will not bow down.
Notwithstanding its contribution and selfless service to the people of Odisha, some people are acting as rumour mongers and spreading myth to defame this august institution. The recent incidents wherein Odisha Police has been attacked by the so called media barons of Odisha, call for high condemnation of the people behind it. For their own benefits and saving their agents from being prosecuted, some people are spreading fake news in the Social Media. Recently Odisha Police became one of the trending topics in Social Media just because a politician compared it with Pakistan police.
With all this hue and cry, now the question is does Odisha police deserves such a comparison with Pakistan police? Certainly not. The politician, with whatever intention, must not forget that, it is because of the Odisha police’s sincere duty, his family like others is staying safely in a state which is considered as the land of Jagannath. More often it is because of this Odisha Police, he could run a business empire without facing and law and order situation.
All must not forget that it is the police personnel who work round the clock to safeguard the life and property of the people including the politician who has compared Odisha Police with Pakistan. As we all stay in our houses, it is the Odisha police who put up with heat, cold, rain, and all the difficult weather.
Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic has out broke, the Odisha police apart from their normal duty of maintaining law and order, have been engaged in the Covid-19 duty for enforcement of Covid-19 lockdowns and shutdowns.
While the Odisha police personnel are dedicatedly working and performing their duty professionally in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus a number of warriors have also became martyrs. They have also turned saviours to many by donating plasma during this hour of crisis. While they are fighting for the society at large, the perpetrators of hate are busy in planning their dirty games.
Any derogatory remark against them is the lowest a person can go in his or her attitude. The selfless work during these difficult times has saved a lot of lives. Their contribution in spreading awareness about Coronavirus is incomparable. Making comparison with Pakistan does not hold water.
Their efforts in bringing in peace in the maoist affected areas are commendable. In their fight against the Maoists, a number of police personnel have also lost their lives. On this day when we commemorate the sacrifices of the police forces and remember their contribution to the society we should not forget the reality. Let us pay our respects to them who are always around us for our safety.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has paid his humble tributes to all brave policemen who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
“Tributes to all brave policemen who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. On Poilce Commemoration Day, join the nation to offer homage to all the martyrs and remember the sacrifices of our police forces and their families to serve the nation during difficult situations”, the CM tweeted.
