Coronavirus Infected Youth in Odisha Came in Contact with 129 Persons: Govt Spokesperson

Bhubaneswar: Stepping up its efforts after a person tested positive of deadly coronavirus, the Odisha Government has traced at least 53 persons who have come in contact with the man tested positive.

State Government’s COVID-19 spokesperson Subroto Bagchi today said that efforts are on to reach out to the persons to check further spread.

“The person infected with Coronavirus in the city has come in contact with 129 persons, Bagchi said.

Meanwhile, the private clinic where he visited has been shut down.

A 33-year-old youth with travel history to Italy became the first Coronavirus patient in Odisha after his samples were tested positive for the virus on Sunday night.

The patient returned from Italy on March 6, boarded New Delhi-Bhubaneswar train and reached Bhubaneswar on March 12.

Bagchi said that the private clinic where the youth had visited for treatment for cold and fever has been closed and the doctor has been put under home isolation.

Meanwhile, Odisha Government has developed special website http://covid19.odisha.gov.in exclusively for information related to deadly Coronavirus. Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy has announced reward of Rs 15000 for persons who Suo motu registered themselves in http://covid19.odisha.gov.in/ portal.

Those who will inform about their arrival in India (by registering with covid19.odisha.gov.in) will get an incentive of Rs 15,000, said Chief Secretary.
