Bhubaneswar: In the wake of increasing cases of Coronavirus, the panchayat by-election, which was scheduled to be held in 20 districts of Odisha on March 24, has been postponed.
This was informed by the State Election Commission on Monday.
According to reports, the by-election to the offices of two Zilla Parishad members, six Sarpanchs, eight Samiti members and 84 Ward members in 20 districts were scheduled to be held on March 24. However, the State Election Commission today postponed the elections as a precautionary measure to the outbreak of novel coronavirus.
The next date for the local body polls will soon be finalised, said the State Election Commission.
