COVID-19 Management: Odisha’s Fatality Rate is Lowest In the Country

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government’s proactive steps, strategies and effective COVID-19 management have been able to contain Coronavirus in the State so far, said Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy today.

Odisha’s COVID-19 related fatality rate is the lowest in the country due to proper research, planning and perfect execution. While the fatality rate in Odisha is 0.46 per cent, the national figure is 2.86 per cent, he added.

Addressing the media, he presented comparative national and State figures and statistics related to COVID-19 pandemic.

While the cases per million is 33 in Odisha compared to 108 in national level.

Similarly, the testing per million in Odisha is much higher than national average. While the testing per million in Odisha is 2,861, the national average is 2,360, Tripathy said.

In Odisha, one positive case is detected per 86.75 tests. The same figure is 21.49 in India. The doubling rate in Odisha (11.05) is less than the national average (13.09), the Chief Secretary added.

Meanwhile, over one lakh migrant labourers have left from the quarantine centers after completing stipulated quarantine period in the State, he further said.
