COVID-19: Odisha Starts Vaccinating Pregnant Women

Bhubaneswar: The vaccination of pregnant women against coronavirus started in Odisha on Friday.

The State Government has made special arrangements, like the on-the-spot registration, separate vaccination and waiting rooms. After vaccination, women were observed for at least 30 minutes.

According to State Health Director Dr. Bijay Panigrahi, around 9 lakh pregnant women register themselves every year to get benefits under various schemes. So at any point in time, we expect 50 per cent of total registered pregnant women, that is, around 4.5 lakh to be due for COVID-19 vaccination, he added.

The State Government has instructed the district administration to rope in front-line workers to give counselling to these women regarding the benefits of the COVID vaccine.
