COVID-19: People Show Overwhelming Support to Curfew, Say Nothing Harder than Saving Lives from Pandemic

Bhubaneswar: Even though, there is as little as six positive COVID-19 cases surfaced so far in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik once again has shown his strong resolve to tame the highly contagious and deadly Coronavirus at the early stage.

Although there is no hot-spot of COVID-19 in Odisha according to Ministry of Health and Family welfare, the State Government has proclaimed complete shutdown in the curious like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak where positive cases have been reported so far. The complete shutdown will be in force from 8.00 pm on April 3 till next 48 hours. This stringent step has set an example for others to how to handle the pandemic like COVID-19.

The services including groceries, vegetables, fruits, dairy, fish and meats, which were functional during the 21-day nationwide lockdown, will remain shut for next 48 hours. Limited medical stores as decided by the local administration will be given permission to remain open. For medical emergency, patients will be allowed to travel to hospitals only in ambulances. The lockdown passes will remain suspended during these 48 hours and a new shutdown pass will be issued to those working in essential service sectors like healthcare and telecom.

Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said, “This is a serious matter and I solicit your complete cooperation.”

The people of Bhubaneswar might not have the experience of complete shutdown or near curfew in the recent past but it’s worth mentioning here that extraordinary circumstance demands extra ordinary response. And hopefully the people will tide over the near curfew situation to keep the deadly Coronavirus at bay.

Be it any natural disaster or any other extraordinary situation, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik time and again proved that he can go to any extend to the save lives of the people as head of the family.

Speaking to the Newsroom.co.in, over phone Swadhin Mohapatra, a resident of Cuttack said, “The way the trend indicates we are starring at a pandemic that we have never seen before. To nullify the spread of the disease, we have to take harder decisions. Let ‘s united in helping the government doing its best”.

Expressing similar sentiment, Ayushman Swain, who works in a private firm said, “The Government has done the right things to save our lives. A little inconvenience today can save lives of many. If we don’t act we cannot forgive ourselves. Let’s support the Government, he added. Nothing is harder than saving a life from pandemic.
