Paradeep: Odisha Development Commissioner Suresh Mahapatra and 5T Secretary VK Pandian today visited the migrant labour camp at Paradeep in Jagatsinghpur district and reviewed arrangements made for the guest workers.
After reviewing the dedicated COVID-19 hospital and corona pandemic situation in the district, the Development Commissioner and 5T Secretary visited the migrant labour camp here to take stock of various arrangements made for the workers stranded in the district due to lockdown in the wake of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
District Collector Sangram Keshari Mohapatra and other officials were present on the occasion.
There are around 86 migrant labourers are staying in the Sandhakud Coast Guard Colony camp here.
The workers are from West Bengal, Bihar and Balasore from Odisha. They are construction workers stranded due to lockdown and all care including free food daily twice, dry ration and health conduced regularly.
Odisha has done very well to take care of workers from other states stuck up here, sources said.
Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik described the migrant workers from other states as “guest workers” and urged the officials to make all necessary arrangements for their safety and security in the wake of COVID-19 lockdown.
The State Government has opened as many as 1,882 camps for around 56,926 such guest workers to provide them food and accommodation.
