Kendrapara: With the cyclone Amphan over Bay of Bengal intensifying into a ‘super cyclonic storm’, Odisha’s Central Range DIG of Police Ashish Kumar Singh today visited Kendrapara district, one of the possible affected districts, to review the preparedness to face the impending natural disaster.
During his visit, Singh took stock of various precautionary measures to effectively handle the cyclone.
Accompanied by Kendrapara SP Niti Shekhar, the DIG-CR visited Talachua village in Rajnagar block in the district and interacted with the local residents to dispel their fears over the cyclonic situation.
Singh also gave away dry foods to the villagers and urged them to shift to cyclone shelter homes.
He also urged the police personnel to step up efforts to evacuate people from low-lying and vulnerable areas to safer places.
Singh instructed the district police to remain fully prepared to deal with any eventuality.
He also provided necessary guidance to the department and assured all possible support for the management of the cyclone.
