Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Monday held an emergency meeting here to review the preparedness to tackle any situation in view of the outbreak of novel Corona virus (nCoV) in China.
The Health and Family Welfare Department called for the meeting at ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar gathering all stakeholders of the Health and all line departments to chalk out plans to deal with novel corona virus. Meanwhile, Secretary 5T also reviewed the preparations and instructed officials to prepare a list of all persons from the state who are staying in China. He has also asked for preparing a report on the infrastructure that can be used to treat corona virus infected patients.
The microbiologists working in both government and private hospitals have been sensitized about the deadly disease, which have so far claimed at least 360 lives in China. They have been sensitized on how to collect samples in the right way at the meeting.
The Health Departments has also urged the District Collectors to carry out awareness drive in their districts. The State Government also advised people not to panic about the Novel Coronavirus.
Earlier, the State Government had issued an advisory with precautionary measures to different authorities including hospitals, airports, ports and railway divisions be followed in case of detection of the fatal viral disease. Meanwhile, the Health Department here has issued toll-free numbers for denizens of the state who returned from virus-infected countries.
